Inwood, Iowa -- Elsie Niemeyer, 93, of Inwood, died Thursday, May 31, 2012, at Fellowship Village, Inwood. Funeral Service will be 10:30 am Monday at First Reformed Church, Inwood. Burial at Richland Cemetery, Inwood. Visitation with family will be 3-5 pm Sunday at First Reformed Church, Inwood. Porter Funeral Home of Inwood in charge of arrangements.

Angellina Alyda “Elsie” was born May 13, 1919 at Doon Township, Iowa, daughter of Henry and Wilhemina (Vanden Top) Hoefakker. After graduating Rock Valley Public High School in 1936, she attended Northwestern College at Orange City, IA for one year. She taught in several one room schools including seven years at Pleasantview #8 west of Rock Valley. Elsie and Henry G. Niemeyer were united in marriage on December 23, 1944 at Luverne, Minnesota.

Together they farmed in the Inwood area for 43 years. Henry passed away on October 8, 1987. Elsie continued to live at Inwood until moving to Hiawatha Heights at Canton, SD in August 2005 and then to Fellowship Village at Inwood on May 27, 2009. Her faith and church were most important to her, belonging to circle and often leading Bible study. She was a church organist and also gave piano lessons. Her other interests included reading, crossword puzzles, following the Minnesota Twins baseball, and hearing about the accomplishments of her family members.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Wilma (Lee) Engstrom of Grand Rapids, Minnesota, Sue (Mark) Bauman of Inwood; step-daughter-in-law, Sharon Niemeyer of Inwood; eight grandchildren, Jason, Cory (Nicole), Anna, and Ryan (Jill) Engstrom, Angela, Amy, and Cody Bauman, Tracy (Billy) Burrell; great-grandsons, Trevor, Dylan, Andrew, and Mason; sisters-in-law, Rena Niemeyer of Inwood, Lynn Niemeyer of Spencer, Iowa.

Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; step-son, Case Niemeyer; son, Joel Niemeyer; brother, Henry Hoefakker.
