Inwood, IA -- Jim Scholten, 80, of Inwood, died Friday, November 16, 2012 at Fellowship Village in Inwood. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Inwood Christian Reformed Church in Inwood, IA. Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery of Inwood. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 20, 2012 until 4:30 pm at Porter Funeral Home in Inwood and continuing with family from 6-8 pm at Inwood Christian Reformed Church. James Gerald Scholten was born January 21, 1932 near Hull, Iowa, son of Lambert and Anna (Ver Hoeven) Scholten. Jim married Greta Van Der Brink on July 11, 1952 at Sioux Center, Iowa. He served in the US Army during the Korean War (June 15, 1953-May 5, 1955). Together they farmed near Hull, Iowa and dairy farmed at Baldwin, Wisconsin before dairy and hog farming west of Inwood begining in 1968. Greta died on February 16, 1984. Jim enjoyed eating at Denny’s, auction sales, and spending time with his family.

Surviving relatives include children and grandchildren, Duane (Arlene) Scholten and Nicholas (Laura), Cynthia, Michael, William of Lynden, WA , Dennis (Connie) Scholten and Crystal (Jon) Kenneth (Aimee), Tiffany (Scott), Mindy (Chris), Patrick of Inwood, IA, Daryl (Sandi) Scholten and Heidi, Jesse (Rendi), Kara (Nick), Rita of Rock Valley, IA, Diane (Jim) Van Gorp and Rachel, Sara, Emily of Pella, IA, Darlene (Mark) Fenchel and Gina, Davis, Ethan, Caden of Hull, IA, Doris (Scott) Wolbrink and Roger, Gerrit of Worthing, SD, Delmer (Paula) Scholten and Nicole, Kyle, Kristin, Kayla, Katie of Inwood, IA; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ed (Eunice) Scholten of Sioux Center, IA, Bernard (Anna) Scholten of Grand Rapids, MI; sister, Harriett (Al) Van Zanten of Rock Valley; sister-in-law, Helen Scholten of Rock Valley.

Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife, Greta; infant daughter, Dorothy; his parents, brothers and their wives, Morris (Esther) Scholten, Andy (Hilda) Scholten; young sisters, Jeanette and Joan Scholten; sister-in-law, Irma Scholten.
