Edward Haack, Victim of Pneumonia,
Dies at Home near Inwood, Saturday

Edward Haack, well known former Remsen man who has been farming near the town of Inwood for a number of years, died at his home there last Saturday morning from pneumonia, at the age of 37 years.

He is survived by his widow, one little daughter, his parents, three brothers and a sister.

The funeral was held at Inwood, Tuesday afternoon, with a large number of Remsen relatives and friends attending. Burial was also made at Inwood.

Mr. Haack was sick but one week, and in spite of prompt and efficient medical attention his condition offered stubborn resistance and became rapidly worse, and the end came at seven o'clock Saturday morning.

Mr. Haack, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Claus Haack Sr., of Remsen, was born on the Haack farm north of town on January 24, 1893, and attended the rural school. As he advanced to years he became a valuable assistant to his father on the farm, and remained at home until the time of his marriage In 1916 to Hertha Jacobson, of Inwood. After their marriage the couple settled on a farm southwest of Remsen where they lived for several years, later moving to their present home near Inwood.

The deceased was a young man of splendid habits and character, and one who attracted friends easily because of his good nature and excellent personality. He was a kind and considerate son, father and husband, while his friends held him in the highest regard. He had a wide acquaintance around Remsen and Inwood, and his friends will miss him while his bereaved family are heartbroken over his early departure from this life. The sincerest sympathy goes out to the relatives, from their many Remsen and Inwood friends.

The funeral and burial took place Tuesday afternoon at Inwood, with a large number of Remsen relatives and friends driving up to attend the last sad rites.
