Obituary: Inwood, IA: Christina Berentschot, 85, of Inwood, died Saturday May 31, 2008 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 am Wednesday at Christian Reformed Church, Inwood. Burial at Richland Cemetery. Rev. Rich Kooistra will be officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday until 5 pm at Porter Funeral Home, Inwood, and then with family 7-9 pm at Christian Reformed Church.

Christina was born August 21, 1922 at Leersum, the Netherlands, daughter of Case and Wilhelmina (Vander Brink) Van Dyk. During World War II she worked in an aunts Bakery in Amsterdam, Holland and helped deliver an underground newspaper.

Christina married Henry Berentschot on December 11, 1947 at Leersum, the Netherlands. They immigrated the USA to the Maurice, IA area in 1949 and began farming west of Sioux Center, IA in 1952. In 1960, the family moved NW of Inwood where they farmed until 1975 when they moved to the SW corner of Inwood. Henry died on August 19, 2003. Christina moved to the Fellowship Village Apartments in 2003. She was an avid book reader, had helped cook at the Inwood Christian School, and enjoyed knitting for her family.

Christina is survived by four sons, Erv (Lee), Harlan (Marilyn), Brian (Caren) all of Inwood, LeRoy of Rock Valley, IA; four daughters, Hennie (Glenn) Serck, Chris (Kel) Faber, Gracia (Roger) Bootsma all of Inwood, Willie (Denny) Wrede, Brandon, SD; 22 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; brothers, Wil and Derek Van Dyk and sister, Cor Vos all of the Netherlands.

Christina was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; grandchild, Cherish Faber; 5 brothers; 1 sister.
