Edith Moeller, age 86 of Rock Rapids, Iowa died Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Rock Rapids Health Centre.

A memorial service will be held on August 6th at the United Congregational Church in Rock Rapids, Iowa, with Rev. Dean Shelly officiating. Family and friends may gather at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids at 9:00 AM Monday morning and process to the Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids for burial.

Edith Moeller was born on the family farm 4 and a half miles southwest of Rock Rapids to Case and Anna (Steck) Brower. She received her education from Cleveland #1 Country School and Wilson High School in Rock Rapids graduating in 1943.

On August 23, 1946 she was united in marriage to William Wayne Moeller in Rock Rapids. They made their home in Rock Rapids before moving to Sargent Bluff and then Omaha before returning to Rock Rapids.

Edith or "Edie" as she was called worked as a telephone operator and at JC Penney’s in Rock Rapids, and then spent many years with Rock Rapids State Bank which became Frontier Bank by the time she retired in 1988. She loved helping people as evidenced by her many years serving as a hospice volunteer and a volunteer in other projects throughout town.

Edie loved playing cards, especially pinnacle and was forever playing games with her grandchildren. They will miss her greatly. She also loved driving through Island Park and going out late in the evening to sit in the country and look at the beautiful full moon. She and Wayne would even call their kids and grandkids to come and join them. She also loved to travel and enjoyed listening to gospel music. This past Thursday Edith passed away at Rock Rapids Health Centre at the age of 86.

She is survived by her daughters, Cathy (Chip) Graef of Montrose, Colorado, and Sue (Bob) Vande Kop of Rock Rapids, Iowa; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild; brother, Cornie (Lila) Brower of Rock Rapids.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Case and Anna Brower; husband Wayne; brothers, Jack, Al, Pete, Delco, Richard; and sister, Willie Kudrle.
