Everon Klinkenborg, age 92 of Rock Rapids, IA died Friday, June 1st, 2012 at Sanford Hospital in Rock Rapids, IA.

Memorial service will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 6th, 2012 at Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, IA with Rev. David Vander Laan officiating.

Burial will take place prior to the service at 10:00 AM at Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock with military honors by the Van Anne-Fields No. 6960, VFW and Rex Strait Post No. 103 American Legion.

Everon Lee Klinkenborg the son of John and Flora (Kruse) Klinkenborg was born October 25, 1919, in rural George, IA. He grew up on a farm near George Iowa graduating from George High School. On July 7, 1943 Everon was united in marriage to Esther H. Klaassen at the First Baptist Church in Luverne, MN. Everon was in the service at the time of their marriage and lived on military bases in Augusta, GA and San Antonio, TX. Everon served in the 69th Repair Squadron of the Flying Tigers of the 14th Air Force. He loved to go to the Flying Tigers conventions when he could to see all his old buddies. Everon even had opportunities to go back to China during the 80’s with the Flying Tigers and other WWII veterans. Everon’s life was all about farming. He was a dealer of Archer Oil and also sold seed corn, beans and oats to area farmers. He also did custom work (baling, trucking, combining and shelling corn) as well as bought and sold cobs.

He was an active and longtime member of the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock and a member of the Central Lyon School Board. Ever since Everon’s fall at the Elevator in George in 2010, he had been living at the Lyon Manor nursing home in Rock Rapids. Everon’s health had been declining these last few months. At the time of his death, he was a little over 92 ½ years old. When people asked how many kids he had, Everon’s answer was always "2 and a half dozen".

He is survived by, daughter-in-law, Mary Klinkenborg of Rock Rapids; sons, James (Jean) of Sibley, IA, Davis, Randy, both of Rock Rapids, Merle (Kae) of Sioux Falls, SD, Jerry and Tom (Audra) all of Rock Rapids; Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren; sister, Janelle (Louis) Loger of Luverne, MN.
Everon was preceded in death by his parents, John and Flora; his wife, Esther; daughter, Donna; son, Myron; granddaughter, Melanie; brothers, Elmore Jack, Ronald and Kenneth.
