Gertrude Van Dyke, 74, of Rock Rapids, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at Lyon Manor Nursing and Rehab Center, Rock Rapids.

Services were Wednesday at Roste Funeral Home, Rock Rapids, with interment in Riverview Cemetery.

Gertrude "Gert" Van Gelder was born April 10, 1929, near Lester, the daughter of John and Johanna (Van Houten) Van Gelder. She grew up and attended school near Rock Rapids.

On March 8, 1949, she married John Van Dyke in Rock Rapids. They farmed together 10 years north of Rock Rapids and 40 years east and south of Rock Rapids. After 50 years of farming, they retired and moved into Rock Rapids. She became a resident of Lyon Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center June 2, 2003.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Dan (Sandra) Miller of El Cajon, Calif., and Marlys Van Dyke of Las Vegas, Nev.; one grandson; three brothers, Jake Koelman of Perham, Minn., Tom Van Gelder of Greybull, Wyo., and Melvin Van Gelder of Big Sandy, Tenn., and two sisters, Mrs. Larry (Jennie) Hanson of Rock Rapids and Joanne Elbers of Sioux Falls, S.D.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
