Klondike Woman Dies on Monday

Many Attend Funeral Services

Klondike – Special to the Reporter: Funeral services for Mrs. Simon Severson, who died at her home at Klondike early Monday morning, March 20, were held at Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Severson home, and 2:30 o’clock in Our Savior’s church. Rev. L. O. Thorson officiated at the services, and burial was made in the church cemetery. Ovedia and Fern Anderson, nieces of Mrs. Severson, sang a duet and Olaf Sorenson sang a solo at the funeral. The pallbearers were: Chris Jacobson, Ole Garvey, Ole Sunde, Ole Hessaa, Tobias Hoiland and Alfred Helgerson.

Mrs. Severson had been in failing health for some time and was confined to her bed a few weeks before her death. The following obituary was read at the funeral.

Mrs. Karoline Severson was born Jun 28, 1875 in Lyngdal, Norway, to Ole and Gurine Skotheien. She was baptized July 20 by Rev. Skonke and was confirmed in 1890 by Rev. O. A. Berge.

On September 6, 1894, she was united in marriage to Simon Severson and to this union five children were born, one of whom preceded her in death. Mrs. Severson was taken sick March 4 and passed away on March 20, 1933, at the age of 57 years, 8 months and 20 days.

She is survived by her husband, four children, Adolph, Omar, Mrs. Harold Madland and Jeanette, eight grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Chris Jacobson, Mrs. Jacob Berkland, Mrs. Tobias Anderson and Mrs. Ole Garvey, and one brother, Alfred Skotheien, who mourn the loss of a good wife, mother and sister.

Those from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Skoland, Mrs. Ben Anderson and Mrs. G. Gysland of Luverne, Mrs. And Mrs. Harold Eiesland of Harrisburg, S.D., Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bjorkland and children of Madison, S.D., Mrs. And Mrs. Swen Swenson, James and Bobby, and Mrs. L. H. Knutson of Sioux Falls, Mr. and Mrs. William Kurvink, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Hoff and Olaf Hoff of Canton.

Contributions, in memory of Mrs. Severson, to the Mission and to Beloit Orphans’ home were many.
