GEORGE—Nina Elisabeth Trei, 92, George, died Friday, Aug. 19, at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital in New Braunfeis,, TX.
Services were Friday, Aug. 26, at Zoar Presbyterian Church in rural George, with the Rev. Dale Lint officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery, under the direction of Jurrens Funeral Home in George.

Nina Trei, daughter of Louis and Velva (Folkers) Larson, was born Aug. 17, 1919, in Sibley. She was raised on a family farm southwest of Sibley. She attended country school and graduated from Ashton High School. After her education she worked as a bookkeeper at the Sibley Creamery.

She married Arthur Trei on June 6, 1946, at Zoar Presbyterian Church in rural George. They made their home in George. She did in-home baby sitting, helped with bookkeeping for her husband’s feed grinding business, and cleaned the elementary school. She later worked as a waitress for several restaurants in the George area such as the White Shop Cafe, Ron’s Cafe, George Cafe, John’s Steakhouse and the Pizza Ranch. Mr. Trei died March 29, 1997.

She loved visiting with friends and family and sitting in the kitchen in her favorite chair watching out the window. A big highlight for her was her 90th birthday. She loved living in George and later in life with her two daughters in Texas, and spending time with their families. She attended many of her great-grandchildren’s sporting events. She also was an avid fan of the San Antonio Spurs basketball team, which she watched on TV and attended some of the games. She enjoyed chatting on the phone with her sister, Lois Odens. She looked forward to her Tuesday outing with family friend, Richard Lynch, going antiquing, shopping and out for lunch.
Survivors include two daughters, Karol and Ret. Col. Bruns of Garden Ridge, TX, and Colleen and Dr. Steven Beito of New Braunfels, TX; a son, Paul and Karen Trei of Ashton; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Lois Odens of Little Rock; and a brother, Don and Verla Larson of Sibley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Trei; a daughter, Linda Kay; a granddaughter, Tristin Ray Trei; and a brother, Elgin Larson.
