Obituary:

Inwood, Iowa ~ Sharon Gayer, 70, of Hills, MN, formerly of Inwood, Iowa, died Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Sanford Medical Center, Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m., Wednesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Inwood. Burial at Richland Cemetery. There will be a time for visiting with the family following the services. Porter Funeral Home, Inwood is assisting the family.

Sharon Marie Gayer was born February 20, 1941 to Arthur and Marian (Strubbe) Gayer in Hudson, SD. She was baptized and confirmed at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Inwood, Iowa. Sharon attended a country school and then Inwood Public School. She lived in Sioux County, Iowa until her parents retired and then she moved with them to Inwood where she lived until her parents and brother, Lornell passed away.

Sharon moved to an apartment in Hills, MN in 1987. Sharon enjoyed social events and coffee parties with friends and family. She liked to play board games and for many years played with a group of ladies including her mother. Sharon especially enjoyed the game Wahoo. She enjoyed playing games with her family including her nephews and any family member who would play. Sharon enjoyed seeing the crops grow in the spring and was always interested in the harvest. She also enjoyed seeing animals, especially baby animals. No matter what the situation. Sharon tried to make the best of things and made friends easily.

Sharon is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Gayer of Sioux Falls, SD; nephew, Tracy (Kim)Gayer and their children: Joseph, Caleb, and Joshua all of Inwood, Iowa; niece, Ten Gayer of Waubay, SD; many cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lornell Gayer.
