Lois Ann Vanden Bosch, 81, died Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Rock Rapids Health Centre. Funeral is 2 pm Friday at First United Methodist Church of Doon, IA. Burial at Hillside Cemetery. Rev. Steve Swenson officiating. Visitation will begin noon Thursday with family present 6:30-8 pm Thursday at Porter Funeral Home, Rock Valley.

Lois was born April 8, 1930 on the family homestead near Doon, Iowa the daughter of Wilfred and Nellie (Groote) Kirk. She married Bastian "Bert" Vanden Bosch of January 20, 1949 at Luverne, MN. Together they lived at Doon where in 1975 Lois became a cook at the Doon Public School until it closed in 1985,and then cooked at the Central Lyon Elementary at Rock Rapids until retiring in 1989. Bert died July 18, 1994. Lois moved to the Rock Rapids Health Centre December 28, 2005. She was a very devoted mother, and enjoyed working in her garden.

Survivors include sons, Ron (Linda) Vanden Bosch of Hull, IA, Larry (Linda) Vanden Bosch of Clarinda, IA, Doug (Bonnie) Vanden Bosch, Leonard (Debbie) Vanden Bosch all of Larchwood, IA, Kirk (Lisa) Vanden Bosch of Rock Rapids, IA; daughter, Margaret ( Dan) Kramer of Rock Rapids, IA; daughter-in-law, Sharyn Vanden Bosch of Diamond Bar, CA; 21 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary (Louis) Laackmann of Luverne, MN.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Bert; son, Monty Vanden Bosch; sisters, Helen Guthrie, Norma Stettnichs; infant grandson, Heath Vanden Bosch; granddaughter, Holly Vanden Bosch.
