GERRIT VAN HOLLAND
1919 – 2011

Gerrit Van Holland, 91, of McMinnville, Oregon moved from his earthly "tent" into his heavenly mansion to join his Father in Heaven on Saturday, April 23, just one week shy of his 92nd birthday.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 1 PM at the Chapel of Macy & Son with interment at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Union Gospel Mission in care of Macy & Son.

Gerrit was born in Inwood, IA on May 4, 1919, and the first of 9 children. He is pre-deceased by six of them. Gerrit met his future wife, Jeanette, as a pen pal. They were married on May 1, 1946 in Artesia, California.

They were long-term residents of Buena Park, CA, where they raised two sons and two daughters. The family has many fond memories of their camping and fishing trips. He was a member of Bethel Baptist church.

Gerrit retired as a groundskeeper at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Cypress, CA and soon moved to McMinnville in 1990 to be closer to his grandchildren.

Gerrit is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette; sons Garry (Judi) and Cal Van Holland; daughters Jeanie (Bob) Kistner and Marcie (Gary) Perkins; sister Gertie Boeve; brother Tom (Marlene) Van Holland; 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren
