Elmer Christians, 86, of George died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Services were Thursday at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, George, with interment in Pleasant View Cemetery.

Mr. Christians was born Feb. 3, 1917, in Little Rock, the son of Cornelius and Wendelena (Odens) Christians. He attended country school near Little Rock.

On April 30, 1940, he married Gertie Kruger. They farmed near Sanborn before moving to a farm in the Worthington/Fulda, Minn., area in 1941. In 1942, they moved to a farm north of George.
His wife died Jan. 22, 1966.

On July 14, 1973, he married Francine Hetland. They retired from farming in 1979 and moved into George. Fran died Nov. 17, 1996. He had recently moved to George Good Samaritan Center.

Survivors include three sons, Larry of Sheldon, Donald of Milford and Roger of George; one daughter, Mrs. Graig (Sandra) Johnson of Storm Lake; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Ron (Donna) Van Iperen of Brookfield, Wis.; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Ted (Louise) Venenga.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wives; seven brothers, Ben, Cornelius Jr., Manno, Evert, Harris, Fred and Melvin, and one sister, Margaret Clark.
