Venenga, Jennie

Funeral services for Jennie Venenga, 92, of Little Rock, were held on Monday, July 7, at the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock with Reverend Brian Hellenga officiating. Interment was held at the Pleasant View Cemetery of Little Rock. The Walton-Roste Funeral Home of Sibley was in charge of the arrangements.

Jennie was born on November 3, 1910, in rural George, the daughter of Jasper and Gertie (Dammer) Van Dyke. She moved with her parents to the Little Rock area and attended country school near Little Rock up to the 8th grade.

On September 10, 1940, she was united in marriage to Rentje Venenga at the Trinity Reformed Church parsonage in Sibley. The couple farmed south of Rushmore, MN from 1940 to 1952 and then north of Bigelow, MN from 1952 until retiring in 1982 and moving to Little Rock.

Jennie was a member of the Salem Reformed Church and the Salem Reformed Church Service Group of Little Rock.

Jennie passed away on July 3, 2003, at the Sibley Nursing and Rehab Center in Sibley.

Jennie is survived by her husband of 62 years, Rentje Venenga of Little Rock; one son, Ronald (Bonnie) Venenga of Little Rock; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren, and two sisters, Gerdina Rachuy and Grace Larson, both of Sibley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper and Gertie Van Dyke; one sister, Marie Van Dyke, and one brother, Seivert Van Dyke.
