Albert Reddies, 62 bachelor farm hand of this community for many years, took his own life by inhaling carbon monoxide gas early Saturday morning, according to reports from County Coroner Harold Jongawaard, of Rock Rapids.

Reddies borrowed a car from John Van Briessen here at about 5 o’clock on Friday evening and went to the Karl Hansman farm home southwest of George, where he had supper. After the evening meal he suffered a coughing spell and decided to rest a while. As the Hansmans’ were planning to leave for the evening he remained at their home until they returned then decided to go to George. He left at about 12:45, and his body was found at the rear of the car on a sheepskin coat a half mile north of the Charles Woods farm by Harm Goldhorn and August Garnmeister the following morning at about 9:30 the motor of the car was still running.

Funeral services were held from the local funeral home at 2 o’clock on Wednesday afternoon, with Rev. S. Roesler officiating.

Reddies had been a farm hand here for the past twenty-five years. He was born in Germany, and came to America when a young man. No relatives have been located up to the present time.
