SNUTTJER, PETERS, FELDKAMP, GROTLUSCHEN, JANSSEN, HEIKES, TIMMER, SIEBRING

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon of this week, from the Snuttjer home and from the Hope Reformed church for John Snuttjer, long-time residen of this community, who passed away on Friday of last week. Rev. M. Hoekman officiated at the services.

John Snuttjer was born on October 2, 1868. At Wiemeer, Osfriesland, Germany , and passed away on November 17, 1950.

When he was six years old his family came to America and settled near Ackley, Iowa. In the year 1892 the family moved to Lyon County on a farm southwest of George. He continued to reside with his parents until 1893. In that year he was united in holy wedlock with Katie peters, the youngest daughter of Simon Peters and Hiska nee Feldkamp. They lived on a farm near his parents for a few years then for several years on a farm directly north of the Hope Reformed church. About the year 1905, they moved to the farm four miles west of Hope Reformed church, where he resided until 1936, when he took up his residence in his home in George.

Mrs. Snuttjer passed away on August 8, 1931. Two sons, John and Joe, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Snuttjer was a faithful member of the Hope Reformed church since 1893, and service on the Consistory of the church from 1904 to 1943, when he retired, because of failing health. Thus he served a total of 43 years on the consistory of Hope Reformed church.

There remain to mourn his departure the following children. Onno ( minister), of Stacyville, Iowa: Simon, Mrs Ben Grotluschen, of Doon; Mrs. Hiska Janssen, and Harm of George; Mrs. Joe Heikes, Ellsworth. Minn.; Mrs. Wesley D. Harms. George; Frank (minister) of Little Rock; Edward and Peter, of George; and Mrs. Jans Timmer of Sibley.

One brother Onno, of George, and two sisters. Mrs. Richard Siebring of Brewster, Minn. and Mrs. Claude Siebring of Geroge, also mourn his passing. Thirty-five grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren also mourn his passing.
