Obituary: Doon, IA - Elayne Siebrands, 89, died Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at George Good Samaritan Center. Funeral Service will be 1:30 pm Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Doon. Burial at Hillside Cemetery, Doon. Visitation will begin 2 pm Friday with the family present 6:30-8 pm at Porter Funeral Home, Rock Valley.

Elayne Kruger was born July 17, 1920 at Little Rock, IA, the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Klinkenborg) Kruger. Later her family moved to Doon, IA where on October 12, 1940, she married Peter H. Siebrands. Together they lived in Ashton, IA, then moving to Doon in 1942.

Elayne was the Doon Librarian for 29 years. She also wrote the Doon News for the Lyon County Reporter for many years. Peter died November 15, 1989. In March of 2008, Elayne became a resident of the George Good Samaritan Center in George, IA. She loved taking photos of family, friends, Senior Citizen lunches and her pinochle club.

Survivors include her daughter, Valeta and Raymond Wells of De Forest, WI; her son, Loyal "Butch" and Linda Siebrands of Doon, IA; one brother, Madison "Mac" of Cadiz, KY; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Lynwood Kruger of George, IA; 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren who called her "Nana"; nieces and nephews and many friends.

Elayne was preceded in death by an infant son; her parents; husband Pete; four brothers: Lyle, Winfield, Howard and Lynwood Kruger; four sisters: Glee Kruger, Sannie Koel, Faye Kruse and Joceil Gerloff.
