Funeral services for Jean Boogerd, age 56, of Boyden, Iowa was held on Thursday, February 27th from the Bethel Reformed Church in Sheldon with Rev. Brian Keepers officiating. Burial was held in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock, Iowa.

Jean Boogerd, the daughter of Gary and Joyce (Verhoef) Boogerd, was born August 22, 1946 in Bath, Kentucky. She moved with her parents to Litchville, ND; where she received her education and graduated from high school. She attended Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, to receive her teaching degree. She first taught at the Rock Valley Christian School and later at the Sheldon Christian School. She was united in marriage to James Nordgaard. Jean made her home in Sheldon and in 1999, moved to Boyden. For over twenty years she was employed at the Village Northwest in Sheldon and for the last five years also worked at the Pamida Store in Sheldon. She passed away on Monday, February 24, 2003, at the Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon, reaching the age of 56 years, 6 months and 2 days.

She was a member of the Bethel Reformed Church in Sheldon. She especially enjoyed spending time with her sons and her grandchildren were special to her. She enjoyed doing many crafts.

Jean leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Lee and his wife, Amanda Nordgaard; Jesse Nordgaard and his special friend Brieanna Larmer all of Sheldon; three grandchildren, Harrison Lee, Bailey Jean and Brandon Lee; her parents, Gary and Joyce Boogerd of Sheldon; a brother, John Boogerd of Orange City, Iowa; four sisters and their husbands, Ruth and David Hobson of Hartley, Iowa; Laurie and Russell Forbes of Lone Tree, Iowa; Becky and Butch Anderson of Sheldon, Iowa and Lois and Ken Schilling of Little Rock, IA; also nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
