Margarethe Kock Dies at Lester
Heart Disease Proves to be Fatal for Elderly Woman

Mrs. Margarethe Kock, a resident of Lester for the past five years, died there suddenly Sunday evening. She had been troubled with poor health for some time and early this year heart trouble developed. She was over 64 years old at the time of her death. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Mueller of the Immanuel Lutheran church of this place at Lester yesterday afternoon. Interment was made in Evergreen at Lester.The funeral was under the direction of Lockwook & Pirwitz of this city.

Obituary

Margarethe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brendes, was born February 28, 1862, at New Liberty, where she was baptized in infancy in the Lutheran faith and where she resided until her marriage in 1862 to Mr. Jurgen Kock, of Durant on February 1. After their marriage they moved to Holstein, Ida county, Iowa, where they lived until 1903. The next eight years they spent at Echo, Minnesota; after which they returned to Iowa and settled on a farm near Lester. Here her husband died in December 1911. In 1921 she moved to Lester where she spent the remainder of her life.

In spite of minor ailments she was active until January this year when she took sick with heart trouble. Complications set in which caused her death Sudnay evening August 8, at 9:15. She reached the age of 64 years, 6 months and 10 days.

She is survived by her children, Mrs. Katherine Schoer of Seaforth, Minn., Mrs. Josephine Raabe of Ellsworth, Minn., Mrs. Clara Scherner of Correctionville, Iowa, Mrs. Frieda Hein of Granite Falls, Minn., Mrs. Mollie Schubert of Rock Rapids, Mrs. Theresa Stanton of Sioux Falls, S.D., George, who made his home with his mother, Mrs. Annetta Carpenter of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Edna, who also made her home with her mother.

One son, Ludwig, died in the World War in October 1918. She is also survived by six sisters and one brother, twenty four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and other relatives. She was a member of the Lester Ladies Aid society.
