Woodrow "Woody" Lohman, 90, of Rock Rapids died Friday, March 7, 2003, at Del-Webb Hospital, Sun City West, Ariz.

Funeral services were Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rock Rapids, with interment in Riverview Cemetery.

Mr. Lohman was born Oct. 8, 1912, in Lyon County, the son of Jacob and Elsie (Stuerman) Lohman. He grew up near Rock Rapids, attended country school and graduated from Wilson High School in Rock Rapids in 1931. He then began farming.

In 1942 he married Elsie Lange. They farmed in the Rock Rapids area. In 1959 they moved to Rock Rapids and retired from farming in 1963. They maintained their farm ownership and in 1987 the farm was recognized as a Century Farm. Since 1980 the couple has been spending their winters in Sun City, Ariz.

In his youth, he played baseball for the Midway Tigers and basketball for the Lester town team. He was a member of Golden Age and Pitch clubs.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Loren of St. Louis, Mo.; two stepgrandchildren and one sister, Pearl Grotewold of Larchwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Alvin, Melvin and Orval.
