Mrs. Juliet Ruff Ladd

After a prolonged illness following a stroke of paralysis which she suffered two and a half years ago and after having been in the Luverne hospital abouf three weeks, Mrs. Juliet Ruff Ladd, wife of Milton D. Ladd, of Rock Rapids, passed away at Luverne, Minn., at 5 o’clock in the afternoon Friday, April 20, aged 74 years.

The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the Congregational church in Rock Rapids, Rev. Leonard Spooner conducting the services. Appropriate music was rendered by Mrs. Raymond Fuller and Mrs. Leonard Spooner, with Mrs. P. G. Smith at the piano. Interment was in Riverview cemetery. The deceased. woman was born at Florida, N. Y., January 22, 1849. On December 11, 1869, she was married to Mr. Ladd, who survives her.

They resided in and near Florida for twelve years and moved to Iowa in 1881. They came to Lyon county in 1884 and settled on a farm seven miles southwest of Rock Rapids, where they lived up to a year ago, when they moved to Rock Rapids. Despite the paralytic stroke, Mrs. Ladd was able to be up and around until some weeks ago, when her condition became such it was thought advisable to take her to a hospital, where she gradually declined until death came to relieve her.

She was a woman of fine qualities, a faithful wife and a loving mother, devoted to her family and her home, and the memory of her kindly ministrations will always he a sweet benediction to those she has left behind.

Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Ladd, but only one daughter, Mrs. John Sinclair, who lives near Rock Rapids, and one son, Lauren Ladd, of Hardwick, Minn., survive the mother.
