Mrs. Garret Van den Heuvel

Mrs. Garret Van den Heuvel, formerly of the Rock Rapids vicinity, died Tuesday, March 27, 1923, at Hollandale, Minn., near Albert Lea, and was buried the following Thursday. She is survived by her husband. three daughters and four sons. Mrs. Fikse, of Steen, and Mrs. Bert Wiersma, of Hollandale, are daughters. The latter was married to Mr. Wiersma on March 11, so within less than a fortnight joy was turned to sorrow in this household.

Mrs. Van den Heuvel will be remembered by her many Lyon county friends as a woman of fine qualities, A good mother and a devoted Wife. Up to March 1, 1923, the family lived on the Roos farm near Ellsworth, Minn. Before that they lived five miles southwest of Rock Rapids.

The deceased woman was a devoted member of the Reformed church. Rev. Manning was to have gone from here to conduct the funeral but was prevented from making connections by the train wreck at Hills, Minn.
