Janet Iedema, age 55, of Sibley, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, Iowa.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, February 8, 2010, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Sibley, with burial in St. Andrews Catholic Cemetery in Sibley.

Janet Kay Iedema was born on August 4, 1954, in Sheldon, Iowa. She is the daughter of Noel and Lavina (Lonneman) Schoo. She lived her youth in rural George, Iowa, on a farm. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated from George High School. Janet worked at Ashton State Bank, before moving to Spencer, Iowa, and then to Sibley, Iowa.

She was united in marriage to Gary Iedema of Ocheyedan, Iowa, on April 25, 1987, in Ashton, Iowa. They lived in Sibley, where Janet worked as an insurance agent for Northwestern Mutual for a short time, and then worked for Exo Pack in Sibley until March of 2008.

Janet was a dedicated member of St. Andrews Catholic Church in Sibley, where she was a Catechism teacher, Eucharist minister, brought communion to the shut-ins, and attended Bible Study.

She enjoyed community events and visiting. Her friends were precious to her. Janet will be remembered as a very giving, supportive, person, who was always there for her children, family, and friends.

She passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband: Gary Iedema of Sibley, IA; her daughter: Jackie Iedema of Sioux Falls, SD, and her daughter: Isabella; her son Greg Iedema of Sibley, IA; two stepchildren: Trisha and Jeff Abbott of Hospers, IA, and their children: Ryleigh and Logen; Troy and Jen Iedema of Archer, IA, and their children: Sydney, Trey and Piper; her parents: Noel and Lavina Schoo of George, IA; three brothers: Robert and Chris Schoo of Ashton, IA, Gerald and Val Schoo of George, IA, James Schoo of Ashton, IA; three sisters: Kathy and Douglas De Groot of George, IA, Donna and Mike Williams of Spirit Lake, IA, Diane and Joe Poss of Rochester, MN; and many friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and parents-in-law.
