Donald E. Jurrens, age 79 of Ellsworth, MN died suddenly Thursday, January 7, 2010 at the Sanford Hospital in Rock Rapids, IA. Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 12th at First Baptist Church, rural George, IA, with burial at the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery.

Donald Everett Jurrens was born December 12, 1930, in the Nobles County Hospital, Ellsworth, MN to Everett and Juel (Feldman) Jurrens. He was raised in Lyon County Iowa and graduated from Ellsworth, MN High School in 1949. Donald married Delores Johnson on October 11, 1954 in her parent’s home, which is where Donald & Delores have lived for the past 7 years. Donald was a farmer until the day of his death. His cattle were his pets, many had names. His family can tell stories about Dad and Grandpa with his cows.

Donald loved to visit with people. He loved spending time with his family and was so proud of his 4 great grandsons. He always made everyone feel welcome in their home. He enjoyed old farm equipment and took pride in his Super M Farmall that he restored. He was a member of First Baptist Church of George, IA, where he served as an usher and Sunday school teacher.

Donald leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Delores Jurrens of Ellsworth, MN, his 5 children, Roger (Charlotte) Jurrens of Little Rock, IA, Karen (Randy) Berning of Adrian, MN, Curtis (Brenda) Jurrens of George, IA, Evelyn (Jerald) Green of Adrian, MN and Eileen (Dave) Goedken of Adrian, MN. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren: Angela (Ryan) Beyenhof, Shawn Berning, Ryan (Kristin) Jurrens, Tracy (Dan) Henning, Brandon (Kari) Jurrens, Terri Klaassen, Jenna Jurrens, Jason Klaassen, Sarah Jurrens, Josh Nolte, Samantha Jurrens, Teresa Klaassen, Tom Nolte, Emily Jurrens, Nick Nolte and the twins, Tim Nolte and Heidi Nolte. His 4 great-grandsons are Karson & Kayne Jurrens, Cameron Jurrens and Jackson Henning. Donald is also survived by his sister, Lylas (Ben) Smidstra of Luverne, MN and his brother-in-law, Sylvester Johnson of George, IA, several nieces and nephews and special friends, John & Florence Eben.

Preceding him in death were his parents, an infant sister, Delores' parents Fred & Fannie Johnson, his sisters-in-law Iona Johnson and Elizabeth Johnson.
