Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon of the last week for Clarence Jurrens,, a George famer who died at his farm home southeast of George.

Mr. Clarence Jurrens, beloved husband of Mrs. Esther Mary Jurrens (nee Veenker) was born on July 26, in the year 1900. He departed this life on May 4th, 1938 at 3:30 p.m. It pleased Almighty God to call him unto his eternal reward at the age of 37 years, 9 months and 8 days.

Mr. Jurrens is survived by his wife and three children who are Geneva Pearl, Euclaire Wilminetta and Clarence James. He also leaves to mourn his passing from this world his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.G. Jurrens and five brothers and three sisters who are, Everett of Ellsworth, Minnesota; George of Steen, Minnesota; Henry of Rock Rapids, Iowa; Edward and Franklin of Little Rock, Minnesota; Mrs. Henry Reiter of Little Rock, Minnesota; Mrs. Jacob Kruse and Mrs. John DeBoer of George, Iowa. One sister, Mrs. C. Bauman preceded him in death.

Mr. Jurrens was baptized and united with the Zoar church on confession of faith in the Lord as his personal Savior, on April 1, 1934, and was faithful to the church and loyal to his surrender to Christ unto the end of his earthly pilgrimage.

Mr. Jurrens was united in the bond of holy matrimony on the anniversary of his 26th birthday, July 26, 1926, and the 12 years of happy Christian home and family life allotted to him were a great blessing not only to the immediate members of his family, but also to the many friends and relatives who always found a hearty and warm Christian fellowship in the Jurrens’ home.

May Jesus Christ, the great shepherd of souls, sustain us all, especially his wife and children in this time of bereavement caused by the departure of this beloved husband and father. Isaiah 41:13, “For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, ‘fear not’ I will keep thee.”

The following out of town people attended the funeral of Clarence Jurrens on Saturday: Miss Elizabeth Trei of Rock Rapids, Iowa; Miss Janette Trei of Sibley, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. George Hisken of Magnolia, Minnesota; Mrs. Joe Stoneall and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Anderson of Sioux Falls, Iowa; Mrs. Minnie Schroeder, Mrs. Reka Schroeder, Ralph Schroeder and Mr. and Mrs. Andrew H. Jurrens, Mr. and Mrs. Claus Jurrens, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Jurrens, Mr. and Mrs. Tim Jurrens, all of Avon, South Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. George Jurrens of White, South Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. Ubbie Jurrens of Ellsworth, Iowa; and Mr. and Mrs. John Jurrens of Little Rock, Minnesota.
