Fred Van Briesen, 64, well known George farmer, died at his home northwest of George, Iowa at 11:30 p.m. on July 5, 1938. Mr. Van Briesen, who had farmed in this vicinity for many years, had been in good health practically all his life, and had not complained of illness until a short time ago. About a week ago he became seriously ill. His death was caused by cancer.

Besides his wife he leaves to mourn his death, three sons, Fred, Jake and Edward, also three daughters, Mrs. John Peters, Mrs. Charles Gruis of George, Iowa, and Mrs. Rempt Eilts of Ellsworth, Iowa, also six brothers Harry, Leonard, George, Ben, Jake, and Simon.

Funeral services will be held at the home at 1 o’clock on Friday afternoon and at 1:30p.m. at the Zion Presbyterian church north of George, Iowa with Rev. Dieter in charge of the services. Interment will be made in the church cemetery.
