Norwalk, CA - Margaret Mary Agatha Healy Juber was born on Feb. 27, 1912 in Alvord, Lyon Co, IA to Daniel John Healy and Minnie Lucy Weisensee, both from Iowa. She was always very proud that she skipped a grade when a child in school. She graduated from St.Joseph's Cathedral High School in Sioux Falls, SD in 1929 and went on to secretarial school. Her best friend, Maxine Hisel, introduced her to Joseph Forest Juber at a street fair in 1929. Margaret married him on April 28, 1930 in Sioux Falls and Maxine married Ed Entringer. Margaret, Joe, Ed, and Maxine remained fast friends for the rest of their lives.

When Joe's sister, Hazel, retired, they bought the Del Ray Café from her. Margaret did the cooking there for about a year and a half until they sold it. She then began working at Lincoln High School as a cook until they decided to move to California in Nov. 1968. This fulfilled a dream Joe and Margaret had since they were first married. When they reached California, she became the cook at the newly opened Los Alamitos Hospital where she worked for 13 years until she retired at the age of 70. This did not mean that she slowed down because they spent their retired lives traveling and spending time with their children throughout the country. Her family also included 31 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

Margaret died on Mar. 27 of this year in Norwalk, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, on Jan. 27, 1992; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Kurvink Murra and Magdalen Lois Bell; and by her oldest son, Duane Joseph Juber. Surviving her are her sisters Kathryn Mary Stoebner, Dorothy Jean Romain, Anna Patricia Ogden Olson, all of Sioux Falls, SD, and Lois Mae Van Ash of Pierre, SD. She is also survived by her remaining 8 children; Dolores Hodkinson of Sioux Falls; Ron Juber of Roosevelt, UT; Gene Juber of Norwalk, CA; Mary Jeys of Potranco (San Antonio), TX; Frank Juber of Brunswick, GA; Richard Juber of Duchesne, UT; Margie Bradbury of Glendale, CA; and Bob Juber of Norwalk, CA.

Margaret was interred at Rose Hills Cemetery in Whittier, CA on Apr. 3, of this year. Bearing her to her final rest next to her husband were her grandsons; James Juber, David Juber, Tony Hodkinson, Jaime Becerra, and John Zullo, and great-grandson, Eddie Holmes. -- [Argus Leader (Sioux Falls, SD)]
