Dick Koerselman, 88, of George died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at George Good Samaritan Center.

Services were Saturday at Lyon County First Presbyterian Church, rural George, with interment in the church cemetery.

Mr. Koerselman was born Aug. 11, 1913, at Sheldon, the son of Ben and Jenny (Vander Maaten) Koerselman Sr. He attended school in George.

On Sept. 14, 1940, he married Rhoda Willemssen. They farmed near George until retiring in 1977 and moving into George.

He was an elder and Sunday School teacher at Lyon County First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include one son, Kenneth of George; five daughters, Mrs. Bill (Esther) Van Dyke of Sioux City, Mrs. Gary (Carol) Plank of Salem Mo., Mrs. Celso (Janet) Cruz of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Jim (Susan) Heemstra of Des Moines and Rebecca Koerselman of Sioux Falls, S.D.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Herman of Sheldon and Lewis Sr. of Fergus Falls, Minn., and three sisters, Bertha Dykstra of Mesa, Ariz., Lucy Eberlien of Minnetonka, Minn., and Mrs. Harold (Johanna) Kruse of George.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, Donald, two brothers and one sister.
