Emma Pedersen of Sioux Falls, S.D., died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at Sioux Falls.

Services were Monday at Abiding Savior Free Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls, with interment in Richland Cemetery, Inwood.

Emma Pedersen was born Feb. 5, 1904, in Doon, the daughter of Sam and Mary (Beckman) Pedersen. When she was 5, she contracted polio which left her with a walking disability. She attended country schools in the Hull, Boyden and Inwood areas. She graduated from high school in Inwood, then attended Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls. She worked for advertising and insurance companies until 1933 when she began working for the AAA Farm Program that later became the Minnehaha County ASCS office. She retired after 34 years. She divided her time between Chandler, Ariz., and Sioux Falls until moving to Harrisburg, S.D., in 1992. In 1996 she moved to Trail Ridge Retirement Community in Sioux Falls. In August 2001, she moved to Bethany Lutheran Home in Sioux Falls.

Survivors include one brother, Kenneth of Sioux Falls, and three sisters, Helen Koppien of Sioux Falls, Mrs. Emil (Elvera) Serck of Inwood and Esther Dirks of Harrisburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Howard, and three sisters, Marie Vanden Berg, Lorena Kahl and Henrietta Knutson.
