Esther Long, 86, of Fillmore, Calif., died at her home Jan. 11, 2003.

Family graveside services were at Bardsdale (Calif.) Cemetery Jan. 17.

Esther Miller was born in Lyon County, the daughter of Chris and Clara Miller. She grew up in Rock Rapids and graduated from Rock Rapids High School in 1934.

On Aug. 14, 1935, she married Ralph Long of Rock Rapids. They lived in Sioux Falls, S.D., later moving to Los Angeles. When he retired in 1975, they moved to Fillmore.

Her husband died Dec. 21, 2000.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Dr. Homer (Janyce) Heath, Mrs. Darrell (Jeannine) Thomas and Mrs. Grant (Marleen) Rollins, all of California; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
