Obituary: Rock Valley, IA: Floris Van Tilburg, 82, of Rock Valley, died Saturday December 6, 2008 at the Veterans’ Administration Hospital, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Memorial Service was held Tuesday at Netherlands Reformed Congregation, Rock Valley with burial at Valley View Cemetery.

Floris Van Tilburg was born October 23, 1926 at Carmel, IA, son of Cornelius and Antoinette (Smit) Van Tilburg. He married Dolores Goldhorn on March 10, 1955 at George, Iowa. Together, they farmed by Doon, IA before farming near George in 1967. They retired and moved to George in 1981 and to Rock Valley in 2002.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores; 2 sons, Vernon (Sue) Van Tilburg of Doon, Iowa, Gerald (Judy) Van Tilburg of George, Iowa; daughter, Anita (John Jr.) Fluit of Inwood, Iowa; son-in-law, Ken (Linda) Letze of Chancellor, South Dakota; 2 brothers, Thomas (Marg) Van Tilburg, and Marvin (Coba) Van Tilburg all of Rock Valley; sister, Judina Vanden Berg of Corisca, South Dakota; 14 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

Floris was preceded in death by 2 infant children; daughter, Geneva Letze; grandchild, Brady Van Tilburg; brother, Emery Van Tilburg; brother-in-law, John Vanden Berg.
