Obituary: Rock Valley, Iowa: Christine Van Tol , 98, of Rock Valley, died Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Whispering Heights. Memorial Service Tuesday May 19, 2009 at Calvin Christian Reformed Church, Rock Valley with burial prior Memorial Service at Hillside Cemetery, Doon, Iowa.

Christine was born November 24, 1910 north of Doon, Iowa, daughter of William and Hendrika (Wallenburg) Termaat. She married Arie Van Tol on February 6, 1936, on the family farm north of Doon. Together they farmed west of Inwood 10 years and then west of Doon until retiring to Rock Valley in 1975. Christine was a member of Calvin Christian Reformed Church since 1975; did volunteering at Valley Manor; and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and making stuffed animals and dolls. Arie died on January 14, 1998. Christine moved to Whispering Heights (formerly Valley Manor) in August of 2007.

Survivors include her daughters: Henrietta (Joawn) Van Oort of Doon, Iowa, Elizabeth (Robert) Crowley of Springfield, Illinois; sons: Cornie (Trudi) Van Tol of Muskegon, Michigan, William (Laura) Van Tol of Wyoming, Michigan, Arthur (Nancy) Van Tol of Granville, Michigan, Clarence (Nancy) Van Tol of Middleburg, Florida, Hubert (Lois) Van Tol of Rochester, NewYork, Jerry (Anne Banning) Van Tol of Worcester, Massechusetts; 26 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; sisters: Coba Mulder of Rock Valley, Tillie Bork of Luverne, Minnesota, Henrietta Oostra and Evelyn Huisman both of Holland, Michigan; brother, Bud (Florence) Termaat of Rock Valley; sisters-in-law: Angie Termaat and Alice Niemeyer both of Rock Valley, Mag Van Tol and Evelyn Van Tol both of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Christine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arie; son Hubert James Van Tol; grandson, Glen Eugene Van Oort; brother, Jack Termaat; sisters: Winnie Visser, and Gertie Van Engen.
