Albert Venenga age 94 of Little Rock, Iowa, died Saturday, May 16, 2009 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, Iowa. Funeral service was held Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, with burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock.

Albert Venenga was born August 10, 1914, near Little Rock, Iowa, the son of Bert and Jessie (Boyenga) Venenga. He grew up on the family farm east of Little Rock and attended country school. On November 15, 1935, he was united in marriage to Margaret Christians of Little Rock, Iowa. The couple moved to a farm near Rushmore, Minnesota, and lived there for a brief time. In 1946, they bought and moved to the home place two miles east of Little Rock. They retired from farming and on February 17, 1979, they had their farm sale. They moved into Little Rock in 1982.

Albert was always very supportive of the Little Rock community. He was a member of the Little Rock Town & Country Club where he helped to take exhibit entries for the Little Rock Corn Show. He was also very supportive of and an active member of the Presbyterian Church, holding many positions over the years. He was well known for his yardstick collection. Albert and Margaret went on many bus tours and car trips with friends. He enjoyed them very much. Albert was very proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a resident of Sibley Nursing and Rehab Center for the last fourteen months. On May 8, 2009, he was taken to the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, Iowa, and this past Saturday morning, May 16, 2009, Albert passed away at the age of ninety-four.

Albert is survived by his children: son, Verlyn Venenga, and his wife Betty, of Little Rock, Iowa; daughter, Janice Christians of Adrian, Minnesota; and son, Allan Venenga, and his wife Charlene, of George, Iowa; eleven grandchildren, Ranae (Brian) Tutje, Stacey (Rick) VanderHaar, Darnell (Amy) Christians, Janell (Todd) Recker, Dean (Barb) Christians, Craig (Karen) Christians, Jeff (Christina) Christians, Rick (Jessica) Christians, Kathy (Corey) Kruse, Vicki (Scott) Schelling, and Amanda Venenga (and her friend, Andrew Bradley); twenty-three great-grandchildren; a brother Ted Venenga; and half-brothers LeRoy (Nancy) Venenga and George (Rose) Venenga; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; his parents, Bert and Jessie Venenga; two brothers, Elvin and Vernon Venenga; and two great-grandchildren.
