Orval Dammann was born December 7, 1928 at rural George, Iowa. He was the son of Harry and Marie (Habbinga) Dammann. He was a life long resident of George, attending country school.

He married Mary Greene on July 16, 1956 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in George. They farmed south of town. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and had served on the Church Council. He was a member of the American Legion, serving in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict as a staff sergeant. He was a Wheeler Township Trustee for many years.

He died Tuesday, November 3, 1998 at the Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital in Rock Rapids, Iowa at the age of 69 years.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Mary of George, Iowa and two daughters, Cher Volink of Sheldon, Iowa and Jackie Dammann of Quitman, Texas. Also left to cherish his memories are three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; son-in-law Dick Groen of George, Iowa,; two sisters, Lavonne and husband Irvin Meyer of George, Iowa and Gladys and husband Norman Moret of Boyden, Iowa

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Floyd and Arnold.

Funeral services for Orval Dammann were held on Friday, November 6, 1998 at Immanuel Lutheran Church of George, Iowa with interment the same day in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery west of town.
