Funeral services for Herman Runge, 92, of Sibley, Iowa, were held October 23, 1992, at United Methodist Church, Sibley, with interment in Holman Township Cemetery, Sibley.

He died Tuesday, October 20, 1992 at Rock Rapids Health Centre.

Mr. Runge was born October 25, 1899 in rural George, Lyon county, Iowa. He grew up and attended country school in George. He worked for area farmers, later working on the railroad and doing trucking.

On December 5, 1947, he married Marie Johann Veen in Luverne, Rock county, Minnesota. They moved to Little Rock, Lyon county, Iowa, where he operated a dray line with matching red mules.

In 1950, they moved to Rock Rapids, Lyon county, Iowa. He worked on the Arlington Dairy Farm and for the Champlin Gas Terminal. They moved to Ashton, Iowa , in 1955 and he worked on farms in the area. In 1968, they moved to Sibley. On June 24, 1992, he became a resident of the Health Centre.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Clarence “Sarge” of New Haven, Indiana, Leroy Venenga of Sanborn, Iowa, George Venenga of Humboldt, South Dakota, and Herman Jr. of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; one daughter, Grace Marie Runge of Sibley; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
