SMITH, MARY 1863-1955
Mary Howen daughter of Riner and Hannah Howen was born in Illinois, on December 18, 1863, and died in Spencer, Iowa on August 3, 1955, at the age of 91 years, 7 months and 16 days. She was confirmed at the age of 15.

On April 9, 1884 she married Mr. William Smith at Taylorville, Illinois. They moved to Ireton, Iowa, in 1890. Then to Doon, Iowa,where she lived until 1935 when she came to Spencer, Iowa, to live with her daughter, Mrs. E.H. Penning.

Her husband passed away in 1920. One son and one daughter also preceded her in death.

Survivors include one daughter (Emma) Mrs. E.H. Penning, eight grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Aug. 5 at Cobb-Warner Home and burial was in Doon. Rev. Kenneth Martin officiated at the services.

"Note" The correct spelling is Reiner, not Riner.
