PASSED TO HER REWARD

Mrs. Patrick McGuire Peacefully Passes Away Amid Friends

Mrs. Bessie McGuire, wife of Patrick McGuire, is dead and the light of a once cheerful home has gone out forever. Many are the hearts that are aching. Her neighbors and acquaintances are doing for the late Mrs. McGuire the same melancholy service which she has rendered whenever the opportunity presented itself, the caring for the dead: the saddest duty they have ever performed, for she was respected and loved by all, and her death comes to each freighted with an acute sense of personal loss. She was abundantly blessed with the best traits characteristic of true womanhood. They loved her most who knew her best. Exteriorly she was frank, and some whose acquaintance is superficial hastily interpreted her frankness to her disadvantage. They egregiously erred; for beneath and masked by the crust lay one of the gentlest and most sympathetic natures. Like all women of innate refinement and nobility she possessed the spirit of helpfulness. Mrs. McGuire died Tuesday evening at 10 o'clock of fibrous pneumonia, after an illness of short duration.

There could not be a more devoted wife and mother, nor could a mother easily bequeath to her child the precious legacy of a more exemplary life, while those who had the pleasure of her friendship remain the memory of Mrs. Bessie McGuire will be as fresh and fragrant as the summer verdure upon her grave.

She was a devoted Christian lady, and is survived by a husband and three sons, Jesse, Edward, and Wade, brothers John, Lawrence and Mike Doyle; also a sister.

Mrs. McGuire's maiden name was Bessie Doyle. She was born in Toledo, Ohio in July 1850. Her parents moved to Tipton, Iowa in 1860. She was united in marriage to Patrick McGuire 26 years ago, since which time she has resided with her husband in Lyon County.

The funeral service took place this morning from Holy Name Church, where high requiem mass was celebrated by Rev. Father Dullard. The coffin was richly garlanded with carnations, white roses and lilies. Her remains were followed to the grave by relatives and numerous sympathizing friends, where her remains were laid to rest to await the reward in store for the faithful and pure in heart.
