Funeral services for Mrs. Merrill (Elsie) Olson, age 80, of Rock Rapids, Lyon county, Iowa, will be held here on Tuesday, December 15, 1981, at Immanuel Lutheran church with the Rev. Arnold Imbrock officiating. Burial will be in Riverview cemetery. Jongewaard-Roste Funeal home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Olson died at a Sioux Falls hospital on Saturday morning, December 12, 1981. She had been hospitalized about two weeks and was thought to be improving when her condition changed and death resulted.

Elsie Schmidt was born at Rock Valley, Sioux county, Iowa, on August 17, 11901. The family moved to Rock Rapids and on August 17, _____ she was married to Merrill Olson. They farmed until 1956, when they moved to town and have lived there since that time.

Mrs. Olson was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church and had been active in its work. She was a former church organist.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Janice) __drichsen of Rock Rapids; three grandchildren; two brothers, Edward of Rock Valley, and Dr. C.P. of Worthington, Minnesota; and one sister, Mrs. Harold (Edna) Jongewaard of Rock Rapids.
