Funeral services were held on December 7, 1972 for Harry Starr at the Evangelical United Methodist church in George, Lyon county, Iowa. Interment was in the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery west of George.

Harry Le Roy Starr was born December 15, 1892 at Rock Valley, Sioux county, Iowa to George and Clara Starr. He lived part of his youth in Rock Valley. The family moved to Tripp, Hutchinson county, South Dakota where he attended school. As a youth, Mr. Starr clerked in a hardware store.

On October 16, 1921 he was united in marriage to Anna Wieland in Delmont, Douglas county, South Dakota. After his marriage, he owned and managed a grocery general store and butcher shop.

In 1937 the family moved to George where he worked in a locker plant. For 10 years he word in the office of a plumbing shop.

Harry Starr passed away December 5, 1972 at the Good Samaritan Home in George following a long period of poor health. He had reached the age of 79 years, 11 months and 20 days.

Mr. Starr was preceded in death by 2 children: Shirley Davis and Frank Starr. He is survived by his wife Anna; 1 sister; and 9 children. The children are: Helen, Mrs. Herman Schmidt, and Carolee, Mrs. Pete Cuperus of George; Phyllis Fahey, Mary, Mrs. Louis Bock and George of Sioux City, Iowa; Marilyn, Mrs. Clarence Van Velzen of Des Moines, Iowa; Keith of Emmetsburg, Palo Alto county, Iowa; Richard of Milford, Dickenson county, Iowa and James of Iran. There are also 35 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
