JOHNSON, PHOEBE (SWANSON) 1900 -1971
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Evangelical Covenant Church, Sioux Falls, for Mrs. Phoebe Johnson, 71, who died Tuesday afternoon at her home following a year's illness.

Phoebe Swanson was born January 19, 1900, at Granite, Iowa. She was married to Joe E. Johnson on June 20, 1923, at Granite. The couple farmed and were cattle feeders in the Larchwood, Iowa, vicinity until moving to Sioux Falls in 1949. Mr. Johnson died April 7, 1952. Mrs. Johnson was a past president of the Bardic Round Table, local branch of the South Dakota State Poetry Society. She has had her poetry published in Pasque Petals and has also written songs.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Dale Whitcher and Mrs. William Ball, both of Sioux Falls; a son Calvin, Larchwood; 10 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; a sister, Mable Swanson, Sioux Falls, two brothers Emil and Elmer, both of Larchwood.

Committal rites will be held at Grandview Covenant Cemetery at Larchwood.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday in the Evangelical Covenant Church, E. 26th St., with Reverands Gale O'Neil, Axel Long, and Bernie Breden officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Covenant Cemetery, Larchwood.
