Girl is Killed in Accident at Wall Lake
Two companions Hospitalized for Injuries from Hot-Rod Mishap

A 17 year old Larchwood, Iowa girl was killed early this morning and her two companions hospitalized as a result of a hot-rod accident in the Wall Lake vicinity.

Dead is Betty Jensen, who with Dick Hanson, 20, Pickstown, and Bob Schmidt, 16, 2806 South Norton Ave, Sioux Falls, was injured when the 1932 hot rod coupe in which they were riding left the road and rolled over three times.

Sheriff Barney Boos in reporting the accident said that Miss Jensen's two companions were taken to Sioux Valley hospital for treatment of head wounds but that Miss Jensen was dead upon arrival at the hospital.
After 3 a.m.

Boos said the accident occurred at 3:15 a.m. near Wall Lake between the roller skating pavilion and the dance pavilion. Hanson was the driver of the cut-down and high powered car, Boos said. The car apparently traveling at an excessive rate of speed, left the road on a curve and rolled over, throwing the trio from the car. The car came to rest more than 150 feet from the road.

State Motor Patrolman Kenneth Chamberlain investigated the accident with Sheriff Boos.
