HANSEN, RUTH LILLIAN (BJORK) 1917 - 1987
Died August 29, 1987 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Ruth Lillian Bjork was born on February 14, 1917, at Larchwood, Iowa, the daughter of Herbert and Ella (Munson) Bjork. She grew up in the Larchwood area and later graduated from Larchwood High School. On February 18, 1940 she was united in marriage to Edward Hansen at the Grandview Covenant Church of rural Larchwood. Following their marriage they farmed in the Larchwood area. Ruth furthered her education and graduated with high honors from a Dale Carnegie leadership course from Nettleton College. In 1974 she started working at K-Mart South in Sioux Falls. In 1981 she retired from K-Mart and in 1985 Ed and Ruth retired from farming. Ruth was very active in the Grandview Covenant Church serving in the Ladies Aid and Church Board. She was also a leader in starting AWANA in this congregation. She was also a director of the Lyon County Fair Board. Last Saturday Ruth died at the Sioux Valley hospital in Sioux Falls following a brief illness. At the time of her death she was seventy years old.

Surviving are her husband, Edward of Larchwood; two sons, Darrel of Larchwood and Wayne of Valley Springs, South Dakota; and one daughter, Janet Hansen of Edina, Minnesota. Also surviving are four grandchildren and three brothers, Raymond Bjork of Valley Springs, and Virgil and Emil Bjork both of Larchwood.

Preceding her in death were her parents. Blessed be her memory.

Following the graveside services there will be a lunch served in the church basement for all relatives and friends.
