HAMMITT, MILDRED R. (BONANDER) 1912 - 1996
Mesa, Arizona, Mildred R. Hammit, 84, formerly of Sioux Falls, a former rural school teacher, died Tuesday, December 3, 1996 at Valley Lutheran Hospital in Mesa.

Mildred Bonander was born March 29, 1912, in Larchwood, Iowa to Axel and Olga Bonander. She graduated from Larchwood Public School and attended Cedar Falls Teachers College. She later taught rural school in Sioux Township for two years.

She married Wilford "Bill" Hammitt in 1934. They lived in Sioux Falls until 1975, when they moved to Apache Junction, Arizona. Her husband preceded her in death as did her parents, her brothers Edgar and Oscar, and her sister, Evelyn Poierer.
Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter, Connie Zimmerman and her husband Bob, of Mesa, Arizona; her son, Ronald Hammitt of Webster, South Dakota; 3 brothers, Harold, Russell and Axel Jr., all of Larchwood, Iowa; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 nieces and 3 nephews.

Services begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Grandview Covenant Church of rural Larchwood, with burial in Grandview Covenant Cemetery in rural Larchwood at 1 p.m. Friday, January 3, 1997. There will be no visitation.
Miller Funeral Home is Sioux Falls is in charge of arrangements.
