HAEGELE, MAURINE
Lester, Iowa - Bertha Maurine Haegele, 90, died Tuesday, May 10, 1994, in the Rock Rapids, Iowa, Health Centre.

Bertha Wick was born Feb. 16, 1904, in Lester. She grew up in Lester and graduated from Lester High School in 1923. She received a teaching certificate from Morningside School in 1923. She received a teaching certificate from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. She returned to Lyon County and taught country school in the Lester and Alvord, Iowa, areas.

She married Gustav Zornig on March 5, 1927, in Sioux City. He died May 10, 1956. They farmed near Lester for 30 years. She married Harry Stuerman on June 18, 1962, in Sioux Falls. He died July 20, 1970. They made their home in Lester.

She married Otto Haegele on Nov. 22, 1974, in Lester. He died Jan 21, 1994. They made their home in Lester, until their health began failing. She became a resident of the nursing home Jan. 21. 1994

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she served as church treasurer for more than 30 years; a member of the Daughters of the Nile in Sioux Falls; and the Legion Auxiliary in Lester.

Survivors include two sons: Harold Zornig and his wife, Mary, of Hull Georgia, and William Zornig and his wife, Shirley, of Rock Rapids; three daughters: Mrs. Jess (Linnea) Cose of Larchwood, Iowa; Joyce Haegele of Jacksonville, Fla.; and Mrs. Charles (Jeanette) Stadfeld of Sioux Falls; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Bruzer of Rock Rapids; two stepsons; Robert Stuerman of Sioux Falls; and Dwayne Stuerman of Rock Rapids; and one step daughter, Lois Wicklund of Batavia, Ill.

Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Lester Community Center in Lester, with burial in Hillside Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Friday in Roste Funeral Home in Rock Rapids with the family being in attendance.
