Muriel Gilbert, 93, of Fort Collins, Colo., died recently.

Graveside memorial services will be conducted next year at Riverview Cemetery, Rock Rapids.

Muriel Hoeven was born April 24, 1909, in Alton, the daughter of Gerrit and Lena (Weiland) Hoeven. She graduated from Alton Public High School in 1927 and later attended Santa Ana (Calif.) Junior College and the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls.

On Sept. 3, 1931, she married E.F. Gilbert in Alton. She was a dental assistant for her husband several years. In 1946 the family moved to Rock Rapids from Atlantic City, N.J.

Her husband died in 1980. She moved to Fort Collins in October 1992.

While in Rock Rapids she was active in United Methodist Church and VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. Thomas of Sioux City and Jon of Fort Collins; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson, four brothers and two sisters.
