BJORK, VIRGIL HERBERT 1915 - 1996
Funeral Pamphlet - Virgil Herbert Bjork was born June 30, 1915 at Granite, Iowa the son of Herbert and Ella (Munson) Bjork. He attended rural school near Granite and was baptized and confirmed at Grandview Covenant Church. At the age of five he went with his folks to Sweden but returned a few months later. On November 27, 1941 he married Burnice Henrikson at Grandview Covenant Church. Following their marriage they farmed on the farm Virgil had grown up. While farming near Larchwood Virgil enjoyed raising hogs and cattle. During his life, Virgil was an active member of Grandview Covenant Church and served on the church board and was a treasurer for a number of years. He also served on the Elevator Board of Larchwood for several years. In 1980, Virgil retired from farming and for many years he and Burnice enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona but always returning to their farm and friends in the spring. These past few years Virgil's health declined to the point he and Burnice lived in Mesa full-time. while living in Arizona Virgil and Burnice attended Apache Wells Community Church. Last Wednesday, February 28, 1996 Virgil died at the Mi Casa Nursing Center in Mesa at the age of eighty-years, seven months and twenty-eight days.

Surviving is his wife of fifty-four years, Burnice of Mesa along with four children and their spouses, Cheryl and Len Olson of Mesa; Carol and Warren Johnson of Carmel, Indiana; Barbara and Stan Adams of Brighton, Michigan and Keith and Amy Bjork of Sioux Falls, South Dakota along with four grandchildren, Brian and Jeff Johnson and Abbey and Tim Adams. Also surviving are two brothers, Emil Bjork of Larchwood, Iowa and Raymond Bjork of Waconia, Minnesota.

Preceding Virgil in death were his parents, one sister, Ruth Hansen along with an infant son.

Services March 4, 1996 at 2 p.m. at Grandview Covenant Church of Larchwood, officiating Pastor Heide Wiebe. LeAnn Hansen, vocalist and LaVonne Snyders, organist and accompanist.
