Robert Anderson, 82, of Rock Rapids died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at Sioux Valley Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D., from head injuries received in a fall at his home Thursday.
Services were Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rock Rapids, with interment in Riverview Cemetery.
Mr. Anderson was born Sept. 3, 1920, near Elk Point, S.D., the son of Einar and Hulda (Creglow) Anderson. When he was 6, the family moved to Rock Rapids where he grew up and attended school. In 1938, he graduated from Wilson High School and began farming.
On Sept. 3, 1943, he married Wilma "Billie" Whitehead in Rock Rapids. They farmed in the Rock Rapids area until moving into Rock Rapids in 1971. He then worked at Quaker Oats and McCormack Transportation before retiring in 1985. During his retirement, he helped at the Lyon County Fairgrounds and wintered in Arizona and California.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Mike of Cedar Falls and Steve of Redlands, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Steve (Becky) Boone of Scottsdale, Ariz.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one brother, Dick of Rolla, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Chad Anderson, and three brothers, William "Creg," George and Jim.
