Alice was born September 11, 1905 near Doon, Iowa, daughter of John and Tryntje (Benjamins) Otten. She attended the Doon Christian School and was the first 8th grade graduate.

Alice married Joe Mulder on June 19, 1952 at Inwood. Together they lived at Doon where she was a seamstress for many people of the area and was organist at the Christian Reformed Church for many years. Joe died on February 3, 1959.

Alice continued to live at Doon until due to health problems, moved to the Valley Manor at Rock Valley October 10, 1992. Alice died Thursday, June 6, 1996 at the Valley Manor at the age of 90 years 8 months and 25 days.

Surviving relatives include two step-daughters, Edna O'Brien of Springfield, SD, Joyce and her husband William K. Kooiker of Hull, Iowa; two stepdaughter-in-laws, Coba Mulder of Doon, Kaye and her husband Mike Dalke of Marshall, MN; brother and his wife, Clarence and Agnes Otten of Grand Rapids, MI; 29 step-grandchildren; 80 step-great-grandchildren; 29 step-great-great-grandchildren.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; two step-sons, Richard (Bud) and John R. Mulder; an infant stepson Edwin Mulder; two stepdaughters, Thelma Dykstra and Annetta Van Tol; three step-grandchildren.
