Death of Harm Wessels Harms

The death of Harm Wessels Harms occurred last Sunday at 9:15 o’clock n the morning, at his home in Midland Township, from the ills incident to advanced age.

Deceased was born in Pilsum, Ostfriesland, Germany, March 1, 1831, and came to America in 1864. He was twice wed, the last marriage being with Miss Gertje Brouwen in Ogle County, Ill., in 1870. Later they moved to Butler County, Iowa, and still later came to the present home in Midland Township. One child was born to the first union and twelve to the last, nine of the latter surviving, six sons and three daughters. All reside in this community with the exception of Eildert B. Harms, who for a number of years has been a resident of Ogle County, Ill. They with their mother, survive to mourn the loss of a good and kind father.

The funeral occurred today from his late residence at one o’clock and interment was in the Bethel Reform cemetery nearby.

Mr. Harms was a good citizen; a man of action and frugality and his death is regretted by a large circle of lifelong friends. Ellsworth News.
