George Abels lived in Grundy County and there met Carrie Klaassen, daughter of Harm Klaassen, who had gone from George to Grundy Center to work. They were married in 1908 and in 1910 moved to a farm four and a quarter miles east of George. They lived here all their married lives. Both died the same year, 1935. Their children were: John (married Trena Meyer); Hattie (Mrs. Eldon Ripley); Harm (married Vera Goldhorn); and George (married Helen Schneiderman). After Mr. and Mrs. George Abels died, their son John continued to farm the same place. He lived on the farm for sixty years.
